Machine Setup Tips

Longarm Quilters

You can:

  • Load and baste your quilt before you begin

  • Start at the top and quilt down, strip by strip

Lessons are taught starting at the top and working top to bottom, left to right.

Natalia also shares one bonus swirl background filler in the Classroom Dashboard. You can use that as you go to fill in extra areas, or get creative and use any designs you love.

There are no rules—the focus of this class is on the strips.

Sit-Down / Domestic Quilters

You can follow the same process:

  • Baste your quilt first

  • Stitch in the ditch between strips to create a stable foundation

  • Then quilt each strip design at your own pace

You can also use the bonus swirl background filler or get creative with your own designs in any extra space.

Skill Level

This class is designed for quilters with a basic understanding of free-motion quilting and ruler quilting.

You will need a domestic machine or longarm equipped with a ruler foot and ruler base to safely and accurately quilt with rulers.
