Custom Machine Quilting a Four-Patch Quilt with Natalia Bonner

Join professional machine quilter Natalia Bonner inside the PNQ Academy as she custom machine quilts a beautiful four-patch quilt using point-to-point curves, playful flowers and thoughtful design variations.

In this instructional video, Natalia demonstrates how simple quilting designs can add so much personality to traditional patchwork. You’ll see how slightly changing the quilting in one block creates extra interest while keeping the overall design cohesive.

Natalia walks you through marking and quilting flowers with the Sway Machine Quilting Rulers, helping you better understand how to use these tools for both parts of the process. Follow along as she explains ruler placement and shows how the markings help guide her designs.

You’ll also learn how to quilt point-to-point curves and explore how different thread colors affect the finished look. Using yellow and pink thread, Natalia shares how color becomes another creative part of the quilting process.

Whether you’re a beginner getting comfortable with machine quilting rulers or an experienced quilter looking for fresh inspiration, this video offers approachable ideas you can adapt to your own quilts. Grab your quilter’s sketchbook, doodle along and remember—practice over perfection!

Removing Disappearing-Ink Markings

Mix 1 cup filtered water with 1 teaspoon baking soda in a Piece N Quilt Misting Bottle.

Always test marking products and the removal solution on a small area first. Mist the markings gently and allow the quilt to dry completely. Repeat if needed, as ink can settle into the batting and reappear while drying.
